Skiing & Snowboarding in Samoens

The Grand Massif is the 4th largest linked ski area in France, linking Samoens with the villages of Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon and Sixt. With over 265km of pistes, rising to 2500m, stunning views of Mont Blanc, and with 80% of slopes being north facing, the Grand Massif is a real gem.

In total there are 148 different pistes – 20 green runs, 64 blue runs, 50 red runs and 14 black runs, as well as endless off-piste areas – the Grand Massif provides a great experience for skiers of all ages and abilities.

The Grand Massif Express, a superfast gondola, runs from Samoens village up to Samoens 1600m in just eight minutes.

There have been millions of euros invested in the Grand Massif in recent years. Last year a brand new ski lift was inaugurated, the Coulouvrier, which at 3km long, is the longest chair lift of its kind, taking skiers from the Coulouvrier valley in Samoens, to the Tete de Saix at 2100m in minutes.

Cascades in a wonderful 14 km blue run, going from the top of Flaine all the way to the bottom of Sixt. It’s the longest blue run in Europe, and you can enjoy beautiful scenery, frozen waterfalls and rolling pistes.

The Marvel green run is magical. It’s a 6km run, perfect for beginner skiers at the end of their first weeks skiing. It passes through the lush pine forests of Morillon, and is home to lots of wildlife.
